its just a plant… DUH! LOL, nothing will hurt a bird.. plus bonsai’s arn’t even that big. If anything the bird will kill the tree

While I have not found anything on the bonsai tree in particular, there are many household plants that are very toxic to your birds. The link below has a good site listing many, many different kinds of toxic plants. It’s good that you are wary of the possible affect that plants can have on your bird because many bird owners don’t even think there could be a potential hazard!
Some plants are so high in toxins that they can even kill your bird! (example is the Oleander) Now the bird COULD be a hazard to the tree… God knows how birds love to chew things, so you’ll still need to watch them.

Cocktiel’s are normally very curious, especially with plants. Anything they see that they can possibly take a chew or two out of. Commonly, curious cockatiel’s like to taste things, but I don’t think you have anything to be afraid of with those type’s of plants. On another note: It’s not heard of that a Bonsi tree being toxic to birds. I believe you’ll be fine. Below is a list that may help you out in the future!
Enjoy your cockatiel’s. They’re great pet’s!

It would depend on the type of bonsai plant. Bonsai plants are not one type of plant (as you might know already). They are a lot of different types of plants that are kept small by people deliberately trimming the roots etc. The best thing you can do is to find out if the type of bonsai plant you have is poisonous to birds. If so, don’t let them near it. If not, it won’t matter.

Do NOT Listen to the poster who said that any tree or plant was safe !! That is wildly inaccurate and highly dangerous, as there are thousands of toxic trees and plants!
Most Bonsais are actually pine trees. If that is the case with yours, it will be fine as long as the pine has individual needles. In fact normal pine is rich in vitamin C.
If the tree has palmated needles instead on long pointed individual needles, then remove it immediately! These palmated evergreens are toxic even to people! As an example , Yew is so toxic that people have died from drinking wine stored in yew wood casks! If your Bonsai is not an evergreen, then you need to determine exactly what type of tree it is, and then check on it’s safeness for birds.
Good luck.

WOW! You’re getting some strange answers. Actually, it’s very simple. “Bonsai” is only a design of a tree or plant. Once you have determined the species of tree, check the web to see if it poisonous to humans and/or animals. Another thing that might make a “non-poisonous” plant to be poisonous is if it was sprayed with insecticide.
You’ll have to determine that from the seller. You might want to read the Bonsai Care page on my site:
